My absolute favorite design concept has to be creating mood boards that tell a story. It starts off by making the entire project well organized, structured, and easy to understand. A Mood board is a physical or digital collage of various items, like snapshots, song lyrics, images, materials, text, and other design elements that lead to the final theme of the product. The purpose of a mood board is to help explore ideas and figure out the general style, mood, colors, and overall feel of a product.

A mood board tells a good story.

Here's a link to a mood board I created on Pinterest.

Mood boards can be used by designers in different fields ranging from health, fashion, interior design, etc. Mood boards act as a bridge between an idea and a first draft. It's better to think about mood boards as a form of visual organization.

Here are a few reasons to create a mood board;

  • They help clarify the vision.

  • They involve clients in the process from the early stage.

  • They aid collaboration between teams and clients.

  • They help establish the basics of what the end result could ideally look like.

In conclusion, mood boards are a very essential design tool that allows you to explore your ideas very easily, creatively, and collaboratively.
